Community FEAST 2018 (Food Engagement and Storytelling) 5min USA
This is a video shot on the campus of Appalachian State University during our 2nd annual "Community FEaST (Food Engagement and Storytelling)" event" on October 2, 2018. This is a 100-yard long table set down the middle of campus which welcomes anyone from the campus or community to sit around a table, enjoy a local, sustainably sourced meal and talk about the importance of a sustainable food system. This event is hosted by AppalFRESH (Food Research for Equity, Sustainability and Health), a trans-disciplinary group of faculty, staff and students on our campus committed to improving the sustainability of our food system. Several of the colleges across our campus sponsor this event and student groups contribute ingredients to enhance this meal. The goals are to:
1. Build community by encouraging conversation and storytelling
2. Maximize local sourcing of ingredients
3. Minimize waste
